About this home

338 West 71st Street presents a rare opportunity to acquire a classic Upper West Side townhouse that is already well into an extensive renovation. Situated on one of the UWS's most desirable tree-lined blocks, on a rare cul-de-sac street, the home has been thoughtfully designed as an expansive single family residence spanning the upper four levels. The primary home features four generously proportioned bedroom suites, four full bathrooms, six modernized fireplaces, elegant bay windows, and charming historical characteristics throughout. The parlor floor serves as the heart of the home, offering spacious living and dining areas, bespoke under-stair storage, and a conveniently located powder room. The chef's kitchen was designed for effortless entertaining and is complemented by two private balconies. The second floor is configured as a luxurious residential level, anchored by a large primary suite with an ensuite bath and walk-in closet, alongside a sizable second bedroom and an additional full bathroom. The third floor offers exceptional flexibility with an additional two bedrooms, den/office, laundry room, and two full bathrooms. Crowning the residence, the fourth floor delivers a true penthouse experience. An open kitchen and dining area are framed by both north and south exposures, flooding the space with natural light throughout the day. The south-facing terrace captures rare open views stretching across the Upper West Side toward Lincoln Square, creating an exceptional indoor-outdoor retreat seldom found in townhouse living. The garden level, with its own entrance, provides remarkable flexibility as a contemporary complement to the historic residence above. Whether utilized as a private guest suite or income-producing residence, the thoughtfully designed two-bedroom layout includes two-and-a-half bathrooms, a modern kitchen, abundant storage, and direct access to a private landscaped garden. Below, the cellar provides generous storage, laundry facilities, and additional space ready to be customized. 338 West 71st Street offers the uncommon opportunity to acquire a historically significant residence that has already advanced through the most demanding stages of redevelopment while preserving the freedom to tailor the final details. The result is a home that seamlessly blends historic architecture with contemporary luxury-crafted to reflect the vision of its next owner.
