About this home

A SoHo-style loft in the heart of Park Slope? It's an extraordinary proposition, and 676 Union Street delivers it on a remarkable scale. Behind its classic Brooklyn facade lies a rare five-story building defined by expansive, 25-foot-wide floor plates, soaring ceilings, abundant natural light, and the kind of wide-open spaces more commonly associated with the loft buildings of downtown Manhattan. Measuring 25 feet wide by 55 feet deep, this is a property that invites imagination, offering the freedom to create an extraordinary single-family home, a multifamily compound, or a combination of living and creative spaces unlike anything else available in brownstone Brooklyn. Currently configured as two expansive duplex residences above a ground-floor loft atelier, the building offers an unusual degree of flexibility. The ground level, with its open layout lends itself to a range of possibilities-from a gallery to a creative workspace, retail setting, office or residential space. Beyond the atelier is a lush garden enclosed by mature greenery and climbing ivy feels wonderfully removed from the city and has a generous paved terrace for outdoor dining and entertaining. The second and third floors comprise a sprawling two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex with the unmistakable character of a true loft. Expansive open spaces, high ceilings, and generous windows with northern and southern exposures on both levels bring wonderful natural light throughout the day, enhancing the sense of volume and freedom. Currently incorporating an expansive artist studio, the duplex offers an inspiring setting for creative pursuits alongside comfortable residential living, with the flexibility to reconfigure the studio spaces into additional bedrooms, creating a three- or four-bedroom home. Warm wood floors, an open kitchen, wood-burning fireplace and built-in shelving add character throughout. Above, the fourth and fifth floors form an equally compelling four-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex, where expansive living spaces and beautifully proportioned rooms are complemented by distinctive architectural details. The uppermost floor is particularly striking, with soaring 13-foot ceilings, graceful arched windows, and amazing skyline views. Dual exposures and a dramatic skylight create an extraordinary sense of light and volume while the fireplace and hardwood floors add warmth and character. The existing walkout bulkhead makes it an easy addition to create a magical roof deck adds yet another exciting dimension. A full basement with good ceiling heights and solid mechanicals provides substantial utility and additional storage space. The real magic of 676 Union Street lies in what it could become. Imagine an expansive private residence with an entire floor devoted to art, music, or creative work. A multigenerational compound with generous independent living spaces. A gallery or atelier below and spectacular loft residences above. The scale, openness, and versatility make these possibilities especially compelling, offering a canvas rarely encountered in Park Slope. All of this is set in the heart of Park Slope, where the timeless charm of classic Brooklyn brownstone living meets one of the city's most vibrant dining and cultural scenes. Neighborhood favorites including al di la, Haenyo, Palo Santo, and Mars Cafe are all nearby, along with an eclectic mix of independent shops, cafes, and local destinations that give the neighborhood its unmistakable character. With the R train less than a block away, convenience is equally compelling. For those who have always dreamed of the freedom and volume of a downtown loft without sacrificing the charm and lifestyle of Park Slope. We look forward to showing this rare opportunity with you.
