About this home

Tucked away on a cul-de-sac in one of Hopewell Township's most sought-after streets is Benson Lane, a private enclave of distinguished estates where gracious architecture, expansive properties, and a remarkable sense of privacy come together just minutes from downtown Princeton, New Jersey. Set on 3.29 beautifully landscaped acres, 8 Benson Lane is a classic center-hall Colonial reimagined as an executive-style estate. Offering approximately 6,400 square feet of refined living space, five bedrooms, five full baths, one half bath, a three-car garage, and the rare convenience of an elevator servicing all levels-including the basement-this home is designed to live as beautifully as it presents. A sweeping circular drive sets the stage, leading to a stately brick-accented exterior and an impressive two-story foyer. Inside, timeless architecture meets a fresh, coastal-chic aesthetic, creating interiors that feel sophisticated yet relaxed. Soft, refined finishes, beautiful natural light, hardwood floors, extensive millwork, and generously proportioned rooms give the home an understated elegance, while a thoughtfully designed floor plan transitions effortlessly from formal entertaining to comfortable everyday living. At the heart of the home is an expansive chef's kitchen designed for gathering and entertaining. Timeless custom cabinetry, granite countertops, a substantial center island, Sub-Zero refrigerator, a six-burner range, double ovens, and a Miele dishwasher are complemented by an oversized pantry offering exceptional storage. The kitchen flows naturally into the sun-filled breakfast area and great room, where a fireplace, walls of windows, and sweeping views across the rear grounds create an inviting centerpiece for the home. Formal living and dining rooms provide elegant spaces for entertaining, while a granite-topped wet bar makes hosting effortless. A private first-floor study with its own fireplace, full bath, and generous closets offers remarkable flexibility-equally suited as an executive home office, library, gym, or private first-floor guest suite. Upstairs, the primary suite unfolds as a private retreat within the home. A vaulted ceiling and fireplace create an immediate sense of warmth and scale, while a spacious attached office provides a quiet place to work or unwind. Generous his-and-hers closets and an expansive en-suite bath complete a suite designed with both comfort and privacy in mind. Four additional bedrooms offer exceptional accommodations for family and guests, including two en-suite bedrooms and two bedrooms connected by a shared full bath. The oversized fifth bedroom, privately positioned above the garage, is impressive in its own right. With its remarkable scale, it could easily function as an additional primary-style suite, luxurious guest quarters, or an expansive private retreat. Beyond the interiors, the home opens to a tiered bluestone terrace overlooking the expansive grounds. Mature landscaping, established trees, and the sheer scale of the property create a setting that feels peaceful, private, and distinctly estate-like. Whether hosting an intimate dinner outside, entertaining on a larger scale, or simply enjoying the serenity of the grounds, the property offers an increasingly rare sense of space and seclusion. An elevator connecting every level, a substantial full basement offering tremendous additional potential, and a three-car side-entry garage further distinguish a residence where scale, functionality, and timeless design have been thoughtfully brought together. Just minutes from downtown Princeton and Hopewell, highly regarded schools, shopping, dining, major commuter routes, and train service to New York and Philadelphia, 8 Benson Lane offers something increasingly difficult to find in the Greater Princeton area: the privacy and presence of a true estate, paired with exceptional space, sophisticated living, and convenient access to everything the area has to offer.
