Completed in 1852, this stately brownstone has long been part of the historic fabric of the neighborhood. Today, it stands as a fully modernized and meticulously gut-renovated four-story home, offering 3,734 SF of refined living space on an 18.75' x 100' lot. The home features four spacious bedrooms, three-and-a-half designer bathrooms, a full floor primary suite, 11'11" ceilings on the parlor level, a full-height cellar, and a 720 SF private garden oasis - all thoughtfully reimagined with high-end finishes and bespoke enhancements at every turn. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Jersey City history, perfectly balanced with modern luxury, all in a remarkably commutable, exclusive park-side location. Graced with soaring 11'11" ceilings, the parlor level offers a dramatic sense of scale, blending timeless elegance with modern sophistication. The soul of No. 266 Barrow Street has been preserved with a level of care rarely seen: seven original fireplace mantels, hand-carved mahogany built-ins, and plaster crown moldings restored to their 19th-century grandeur. The original front door, historic balusters, and newel posts have been painstakingly refinished. New stair treads harmonize with refurbished historic handrails, marrying past and present. Two private bluestone courtyards are laid with 1" thermal-cut slabs, ideal for elevated outdoor entertaining. A new Trex deck adds function and durability with a clean, modern profile. The front and rear facades, including architectural cornices, have been artfully restored, enhancing the home's commanding curb appeal. New Pella Architect Series windows with brick mould maintain period authenticity while improving efficiency. A new EPDM roof with 2" isoboard insulation ensures energy performance and long-term resilience. Life on Van Vorst Park means weekend farmers' markets, dog runs, playgrounds, and a tight-knit neighborhood feel - all just moments from Manhattan.
