About this home

A rare opportunity to own a true piece of Texas history in the heart of Belton! Known as the historic Muehlhause House, this remarkable Queen Anne residence was constructed in 1908 by prominent Belton builder James M. Scott and is recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Situated along South Main Street in Belton's historic district, the home immediately commands attention with its timeless architecture, expansive wraparound porch, bay window, hipped dormers, cross-gabled roofline and distinctive period details. Step inside and experience the craftsmanship of another era, with beautiful natural woodwork, intricate staircase columns, built-in cabinetry and bookcases, gracious living spaces and architectural character rarely found in today's homes. The history extends beyond the residence itself. The property retains remarkable features tied to its early-1900s origins, including a historic spring-fed limestone-lined cistern and original outbuildings associated with the Muehlhause property. Originally built for Fred and Louise Muehlhause, the home remained in the Muehlhause family for generations and today stands as an important part of Belton's architectural heritage. Its location places you just moments from historic Downtown Belton, the Bell County Courthouse, Nolan Creek, local dining, shopping and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. More than a home, 620 S. Main Street is an opportunity to become the next steward of a property that has been part of the Belton community for more than a century. With its Texas Historic Landmark designation, distinctive Queen Anne architecture and irreplaceable craftsmanship, properties of this historical significance rarely become available. Come experience one of Belton's truly special homes and write the next chapter of its story.
