About this home

Where the Mountains Meet the Water. There are addresses, and then there are memberships. At 2090 East Lakeshore Drive, you're not simply buying a home; you're being extended an invitation into one of Southern California's most quietly storied enclaves. Malibou Lake Mountain Club was born in 1922, when two visionary developers dammed Medea Creek to carve a private lake from the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains. Think of it the way great literary salons worked: the right setting attracts the right people, and the right people give a place its soul. By 1924, the membership rolls included Cecil B. DeMille, Douglas Fairbanks, Thomas Ince, and Jesse Lasky, names that defined an era. The lake has since served as a location for over 100 films and countless television productions. This three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence sits above that water. A private dock extends the property, a quiet platform for morning coffee, an evening kayak, or simply the luxury of watching the lake breathe. The home's open-concept living area flows naturally toward the view, the way a good sentence moves toward its point: without effort, without interruption. A wood-burning fireplace anchors the living room. The kitchen opens to a breakfast bar where the day can begin slowly. Upstairs, the bedrooms are flooded with natural light, while the main-floor primary suite offers a generous ensuite and immediate access to the outdoors. Downstairs, a bonus room with its own full bath and kitchenette offers several possibilities. Step out onto the large balcony and the full composition reveals itself: lake, mountain, sky, a view that changes with every season and every hour of light. Malibou Lake Mountain Club remains a historic private community of custom homes, nestled between Calabasas and the world-famous beaches of Malibu, with resort-style amenities including a pool, tennis courts, and a clubhouse that has served as the social heartbeat of the community for over a century.
