About this home

Set behind gates and mature hedgerows on 2.1 beautifully landscaped acres in Southampton's storied Art Village, this extraordinary estate offers a rare combination of architectural significance, exceptional privacy, and sophisticated modern living. Designed by legendary architect Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White, the turn-of-the-century residence is a remarkable example of classic Arts & Crafts and shingle-style architecture, thoughtfully renovated to preserve its irreplaceable historic character while embracing the finest modern comforts. Spanning approximately 4,889 square feet, the residence showcases the craftsmanship and artistry of another era. Original chestnut paneling, distinctive soldier-cross and herringbone floor patterns, leaded glass windows, elegant cremone bolt hardware, soaring ceilings, generously proportioned rooms, and three fireplaces speak to the home's distinguished architectural pedigree. Renovated in 2021, the home seamlessly blends historic elegance with contemporary luxury. The chef's kitchen is outfitted with top-of-the-line Wolf, Miele, and Sub-Zero appliances, offering exceptional performance for everyday living and sophisticated entertaining. Five beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms provide privacy and comfort for family and guests, while a dedicated home office offers a refined setting for working remotely. Gracious living and entertaining spaces, five full bathrooms, and two powder rooms complete the thoughtfully designed interiors. Beyond the residence, the 2.1-acre grounds evoke a secluded country estate in the heart of Southampton. Mature specimen trees, lush privacy landscaping, and manicured lawns frame a heated gunite pool with spa, expansive brick terraces, and a welcoming covered porch-ideal for al fresco dining, summer entertaining, or relaxing through the quieter shoulder seasons. A two-car garage adds convenience to this exceptional property. Situated within the historic Art Village, an enclave celebrated for its rich artistic heritage and pioneering plein-air painting tradition, 9 Briar Lane enjoys a truly distinctive setting. Just moments from Southampton Village's acclaimed shopping and dining and the world-renowned ocean beaches, including Coopers Beach, this exceptional property offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. A rare Southampton offering, 9 Briar Lane is an architectural legacy-where the enduring artistry of McKim, Mead and White, the privacy of a 2.1-acre estate, and the finest amenities of modern Hamptons living converge.
