About this home

Truly One-of-a-Kind There is no other apartment like this in the building or on the market. Special is an understatement. Soaring high above 72nd Street on the eleventh floor, this is a unique three- to four-bedroom floor plan with gorgeous oversized windows through which sunlight floods, a wood-burning fireplace, original herringbone floors, and eleven-foot ceilings that transport you to Europe! You enter the apartment through a private elevator to a dramatic step-down living room. Standing atop the stairs, the grand double living room is bestowed in front of you, and through three eight-over-eight-paned windows, you will see open city and sky views north and over St. James' Church. The primary and second bathrooms are located in the eastern wing of the apartment, each with windowed bathrooms en suite. The primary bedroom has one large wall of casement windows facing south, with views of Midtown. The bathroom includes a large dressing room into which one may want to expand the bathroom. On the other side of the living room, there is a lovely bar room or home office, formal dining room, large eat-in kitchen, and butler's pantry. The possibilities are endless in this area to open up the rooms, and the light is plentiful. Off the bedroom hallway, there is a third large bedroom and then a smaller bedroom, which could be a laundry room, home office, or extra storage. Central air conditioning is allowed. Please inquire about estimates for Air Conditioning and window replacement. 36 East 72nd Street is an intimate, twenty-unit prewar cooperative with white-glove service, a full-time doorman, live-in resident manager, private storage, and recreational area, such as backyard with a soccer goal. The building has a 2% flip tax. Pets and pieds-a-terre are allowed. Summer work rules apply.
